Acid resistance

Acid resistant plastic components

Sulphuric acid is a widely used chemical in, for instance, fertilizer production, and it is highly corrosive to steel. Over the past 20 years, SP Moulding’s subsidiary Accoat has specialized in coatings that protect steel against strong acid at high temperatures. But which material can be used to create a tight seal between a glass pipe and the coated steel under these aggressive conditions?

SP Moulding accepted this challenge and invested in development of plastic bushings injection moulded in a special fluoroplastic type. The plastic bushings resist sulphuric acid up to 260°C and tightly seal the coated steel and the glass pipes that pass through the holes in the steel plate. The production facility is protected against the aggressive environment.
